Preschool PALS: LUNCH BUNCH
Students who participate in Lunch Bunch bring a packed lunch once per week and stay for more targeted learning. Registration is open to current PALS students in September, with LUNCH BUNCH starting in October. An extra monthly fee is incurred for participation.
MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
It's beyond exciting for a little one to bring their lunch to school. And many parents don't realize that mealtime itself provides a host of learning opportunities! Independence is fostered as we all open our packed foods, and turn-taking happens when we want to talk at the same time. Children are discovering how to interact with one another over a meal, how to listen and respond to friends, and how to responsibly clean up their area when done. All this learning happens before we even begin the extra segment of targeted practice!
Children love to play their very own instrument using MiniArtis resonator bells! This aids critical listening and rhythmic skills and also reviews colors, letters, and patterns. A great pre-piano activity for any child!
"WHY NOT PIANO INSTRUCTION?"
Students can be overwhelmed by the size of the keyboard, develop poor hand position habits early on, or just lose patience waiting for their turn at the keys! Instead, we have each child bring their own set of bells. This allows for equal playing time and strengthens the student's melodic & rhythmic perception when we play together. It also creates a sense of ownership and responsibility for the instrument. Plus, it's much easier to purchase and store by parents than a keyboard. We think resonator bells are simply the best way to go for young learners!
Pre-k students may also join the fun of playing resonator bells! A second option for this age group is Book Club, which offers more challenging reading and writing practice.
